Hunger

As the night darkens
And slowly eats the day away
The Hunger awakens
I had forgotten about it
But it has only been sleeping
And now it's back
Gnawing inside me
An angry dragon in my guts
Images pass rapidly and repeatedly
Before my mind's eye
Of freshly drawn blood
-Oh, I can almost feel
The taste in my mouth
I am numbed by this Hunger
Unable to feel anything but
A dull, throbbing ache
The pain makes me want to be cruel
To drive you all away from me
-To hurt you, or to prevent you being hurt?
I don't know...
I have nothing more to give you
As I am slowly being
Consumed by this Hunger
You can't save me
It's too late now
-Maybe it always has been...
