The Fortress of Ice

  Still, if you ever manage
To set a foot inside
The gate of my fortress
To catch a glimpse of the world behind
Blood red rose with sharp thorns
Embers flaring up into golden flames
    Blue butterfly fluttering in circles
    Black cat quietly laughing
    Phoenix in the ashes
    Darkness....
        The Darkness consisting
        Not of the colour black
But of the absence of light and warmth
        Always hovering, keening
Beyond, at the edge of the world
Well, a glimpse is all you'll ever get
For when I discover you
You, with your foot in my gate
I'll slam the gate shut
Not giving a damn
If I crush your foot in the process
Don't even think you'll be able
To open the gate twice
I know you know
And I'll shoot you on sight
--Besides, I've coated the walls now
With slippery ice and deadly frost
